Visual & Performing Arts
At our school, art and music give students opportunities to be creative, build confidence and discover new ways to express themselves. Through hands-on learning and exploration, students develop skills that support their growth both inside and outside the classroom.
Art
In art, students explore their creativity while learning about different artistic techniques, materials and styles. Students have opportunities to draw, paint, design and create while developing skills in problem-solving, observation and self-expression.
Art lessons encourage students to take creative risks, try new things and recognize that there are many ways to approach and solve a problem. Students also learn to appreciate their own work and the creativity of others.
Music
Music gives students the opportunity to learn, create and perform together. Through singing, movement, instruments and other musical activities, students develop an understanding of rhythm, melody and other foundational music concepts.
Music also helps students build important skills such as listening, collaboration, perseverance and confidence. As students grow, they have opportunities to expand their musical abilities and prepare for additional music experiences in middle and high school.
Creating Opportunities for Every Student
Art and music are an important part of a well-rounded education. These programs give students a place to discover new interests, develop their talents and experience the joy that comes from creating something of their own or performing as part of a group.
